New York City comprises five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. With an estimated population of 8,274,527 residents within an area of 304.8 square miles (789.43 km2), New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States. The city lies at the center of the heavily urbanized New York metropolitan area, which, with an estimated 19,750,000 people over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2) in three states, is the nation’s largest.
New York’s diversity of culture and extremely dense population and mixture of old wealth and new wealth generated by such thriving areas as Wall Street and Broadway make it a haven for the cosmetic and plastic surgery arts and sciences.
